We all know the importance of staying healthy especially while traveling. This especially true in places where it can be difficult to control your diet and where you are constantly subjected to all types of foreign bacteria, different sleeping patterns, and drastic changes in temperature.
To ensure we are boosting our immune systems on a daily basis we load up on vegan DIY amla and turmeric supplement capsules.
You might be thinking, what is turmeric good for? Or what are the benefits of amla powder?
Well to put it simply, spices are powerhouses of nutrition.
They are packed full of antioxidants, contain powerful medicinal compounds, and are easy to pack which means that they are perfect to take with you on your travels. Two of the healthiest spices in the world just so happen to be amla and turmeric which is why we try to consume these spices every day.
What Are Some Amla Supplement Benefits?
Amla, otherwise known as powdered Indian gooseberry, is considered to be one of the the most important foods in Ayurvedic medicine and the amla benefits are many. So much so that Dr. Greger of Nutrition Facts has regarded amla as “the healthiest snack on the planet.”
Some of the amazing health benefits of amla powder are:
- Anti-Cancer Properties
- High concentration of Vitamin C
- Antioxidant Properties
- Great for skin and hair
- Helps to treat diabetes
- Supports liver function and helps to clear toxins
- Reduces cholesterol levels
What Are Some Health Benefits of Turmeric Supplements?
This amazing orange spice has been used for centuries in South Asia and has recently gained mainstream fame and been acknowledged for the superfood that it truly is.
Turmeric can be purchased either as fresh turmeric root similar to ginger or in powdered spice form. It can be consumed in many different ways such as golden milk, in a shot, or seasoned in food which is one of the ways we enjoy turmeric best! The health benefits of taking turmeric are extensive and varied.
Some of the most notable turmeric benefits are:
- Anti-inflammatory Effects
- Natural Antidepressant
- Painkilling Abilities
- Protects cells from DNA damage by free radicals
- Reduce symptoms from arthritis
- Can help with Irritable Bowel Disease (IBD)
- Useful against Alzheimer's
One of the problems with consuming spices while traveling is that you don’t always have access to a kitchen where you can prepare them. Also, amla powder has somewhat of an overwhelming taste so it’s necessary (trust us!) to mask it with something. Therefore, we came up with the idea to consume amla and turmeric pills. These DIY capsules are vegan, easy to prepare, and make it more convenient to bring with you on the road.
Preparation of Vegan DIY Turmeric and Amla Capsules
To prepare our antioxidant packed capsules we pour amla and turmeric powder into two separate bowls. We find this brand to be the best amla powder brand because it’s certified organic, non-GMO and tested for heavy metals, and this brand to be the best for DIY turmeric capsules because it contains 2.5% curcumin content and is also certified organic.
Because we make separate capsules, we don't mix the two spices together. Make sure to add some ground black pepper to the bowl with turmeric powder to increase the bioavailability so you can reap the full health benefits of turmeric. Next, we scoop some of the spice in the bottom part of the capsule and cover it with the top part. It’s really that simple.
Vegan capsules are easy to find as well, we found ours all the way in Bali but you can also order them online. Take one of each capsule a day to boost your immune system. Remember to take them with a meal since the fat in the food helps your body absorb the spices. These amla and turmeric capsules are a great way to ensure you are always getting these superfood spices into your system no matter where you are.
