30+ Vegan Sneakers On Trend in 2021: The Ultimate Roundup

man tying blue vegan sneakers

As a self-proclaimed sneaker addict, this in-depth list of vegan sneakers has been in the works for quite a while now. In fact, for better or worse, sneakers have been an interest of mine for as long as I can remember.

However, when I became vegan a few years ago, my sneaker obsession hit a roadblock.

As it turns out, most of the name-heavy brands on the market such as Nike, Adidas, New Balance, Converse, and Vans were made either entirely or partly out of animal derived materials, including my favorite models.

Until recently, it was hard to find a good pair of vegan sneakers that weren’t made with suede and leather, and a lot of the big brands were still using animal-derived glue to keep the shoes together.

In turn, I made it my mission to seek out new materials, styles, and even brands, and in the end, it introduced me to a whole new world of sneakers.

Times have truly changed, and these days, vegans don’t have to compromise on style or comfort anymore.

From my favorite Vans and the Adidas and Stella McCartney collaboration to all vegan shoe brands, this is the biggest vegan sneaker roundup on the web.

Below you’ll find the 30 best vegan sneakers:

Vegan Sneakers for Women

Adidas with Stella McCartney

Adidas Ultraboost

  • Selection: Offers all vegan sneakers for women
  • Where to Buy: Available on Amazon
  • Price Range: $110 - $220

There probably isn't a more timeless or classic sneaker than the Stan Smith Original, and in 2018 Stella McCartney and Adidas teamed up to launch a cruelty-free version of it.

However, the real star of the Adidas and Stella McCartney collaboration is the Ultra Boost.

If mixing comfort with style is your jam, you’d be hard pressed to find a better vegan sneaker than Stella's version of the Ultra Boost.

The Ultra Boost is made with - boost - a type of foam that has literally revolutionized the sneaker industry forever. The material works to provide comfort like you've never experienced before along with impeccable shock-absorption.

It's no wonder that these sneakers are referred to as "the world's best running shoe."

These gems come in a few different models, but the best part is that these sneakers are just as suitable for the gym as they are for everyday use.

In the last couple of years, Vans has exploded in popularity, and it’s now one of the most popular sneakers on the planet.

Luckily, the Authentic, Era and Classic Slip-on models are vegan as long as they don’t have leather details.

VEJA has also chosen to not use any traditional advertisement for two reasons. Firstly, to help combat fast fashion and our society's general over-consumption, but also to be able to focus more of their investments on creating high-quality sneakers for a fair price.

VEJA's range of cruelty-free sneakers is extensive and constantly expanding. To us, it’s easy to understand how VEJA has remained so incredibly popular for more than 10 years straight.

This is not the first time we've talked about Ahimsa, and for good reason. This all-vegan shoe brand based in Brazil creates some of the highest quality shoes and sneakers for vegans, and they are well-known worldwide.

All of their sneakers are hand-made in their own small and completely cruelty-free factory in Brazil under fair working conditions.

Besides their high-quality footwear, the main reason we like Ahimsa is their attention to detail. For example, every pair of shoes you order from the brand is delivered with a handwritten note signed by the staff thanking you for your purchase.

I don’t know of any other company that does that, vegan or non-vegan.

We've actually been familiar with Inkkas for quite some time. When we were scoping out the vegan scene in Prague, we happened to book an Airbnb apartment just down the street from their showroom and ended up learning about the brand purely by accident.

Inkkas is an exciting brand because they have added their unique touch to their sneaker line by using classic models with colorful designs inspired by indigenous cultures of South America and Africa.

Not all of their shoes are vegan but many of them are. Inkkas are hand crafted by artisans in Latin America under fair working conditions, and the brand is dedicated to giving back.

In Inkkas’ own words, by buying Inkkas you:

  • Permanently increase the income of poor farmers.
  • Provide permanent and seasonal employment.

Personally, I can't remember a time I've ever not owned a pair of Vans.

Since becoming vegan a few years ago, I've switched from mostly wearing the Old Skool to wearing the Authentic and Era models, and I'm constantly searching for new and exciting models to get my hands on.

When I was growing up in Sweden in the 90s, there was nothing cooler than owning a pair of ASICS Mexico 66 sneaker originally designed by Kihachiro Onitsuka as part of the Onitsuka Tiger brand.

I recently rediscovered the brand when I heard that ASICS had launched a vegan collection of some of the most iconic Onitsuka Tiger sneakers. For me, it was a trip down memory lane, and I was just as excited as I remembered being as a kid.

If you’re a vegan and you’re into sneakers, then owning a pair of Onitsuka Tigers at least once should be considered an obligation.
